So, I’ve been in a creative frenzy lately…My life is straightening out, all my bills are paid and I have plenty of motivation thanks to my growing list of editors! Riding this wave of good karma, I’ve decided to add another comic strip each week. That’s right, twice a week. Let’s see how long I can keep up…
This cartoon was featured on the front page of the Southern Brew News in support of their feature on Asheville’s beer scene. It eventually landed me a regular drawing gig with them. I love beer.
I just received official notice that I’m the newest freelance cartoonist for the Mountain Times in Boone, NC. Goddam right.
So, I’ve been pirating as usual…As a guest at the Boone Comicon I was able to meet pretty much the entire staff of the Mountain Times, Boone’s weekly newspaper. I was told by everybody that received my samples that they really liked my work and the Entertainment Editor, Frank Ruggiero, really wanted to add Best In Show to their fun page. He was at the con shooting pics for the paper. I even got to speak face-to-face with Jason Reagan, the Editor-in-Chief. I found out that a new publisher was coming on board and the new cartoon thing would have to be run by him…
Last week, I followed up with Frank. He gave me the tentative thumbs up…the Times want to add another ‘toon and they like me! I responded promptly, gushing with gratitude and excitement. I’m now waiting for the official go-ahead from the publisher…
Also, I’ve been after the Southern Brew News about making my ‘toons a regular feature. I just got an e-mail back from Bob Townsend, Editor-in-Chief and…It’s a GO! I have to get another ‘toon to them by next week! That makes #8 on the regular published list! I dare say my hard work and persistance is paying off…Now to keep on harassing the editor of the Ale Street News…
