I still think I’m dreaming when I talk about this topic. About a month ago I re-established contact with Amy Lago, Editor of the Washington Post Writer’s Group. I just so happened to notice her birthday notification on facebook (it also happens that she’s from Upstate NY, not far from where I’m from!). So, what did I do? I wished her a Happy Birthday! And what happened? She responded to my post!
From there we exchanged several emails and scheduled a phone call. I sent her a link to my web site and she took the time to read through my archive and when I called, she gave me sound feedback. I couldn’t believe I was in that conversation…We discussed things such as character appearance and the relationship dynamic between the main characters. Essentially, she said that I needed to add more conflict, which is fodder for humor. I immediately went to work…
Before I hung up I asked her if this was a ‘development-type situation’. She responded: “It’s more like ‘pre-development’”.
Folks, I think I may be on my way!
